Senior Manager, Industrial Relations / Union Management

Responsibilities:

  • Manage disciplinary and labour relations program in order to maintain industrial harmony in the organization
  • Advice management and union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labour relations policies and practices, according to Malaysian Employment Act 1955 and Industrial Act 1967
  • Represent Management in collective agreement negotiations and other industrial relations issues
  • Reports to Management on Industrial Relations indicators e.g. labour market conditions, employee engagement index and etc.
  • Updated on employment and industrial laws or policies introduced by the Government or market practices
  • Monitor implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions to ensure compliance with terms of labour contract
  • Involve in making proposals for collective bargaining or other labor negotiations and represent Management during collective agreement negotiation

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • At least ten (10) years related working experience in Industrial Relations, with at least five (5) years in managerial capacity, preferably in a unionized working environment
  • Well versed in Malaysian Employment Law such as Industrial Relations Act, Employment Act, etc.
  • Conversant with investigation procedures and hands-on experience in conducting domestic inquiries
  • Good knowledge of Industrial Court awards
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Good command of language (both written and oral) in English and Bahasa Melayu

 

Manager, Industrial Relations / Union Management

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all disciplinary matters and staff grievances in order to enhance industrial harmony
  • Conduct investigation on major disciplinary cases until recommendation for disciplinary action
  • Act as a prosecutor in domestic inquiries and prepare recommendation papers for appropriate disciplinary action
  • Attend conciliation and industrial court cases
  • Deal with legal practitioners and related government agencies to advice to the management for compliance
  • Revise collective agreement once in three years for competitiveness and cost effectiveness
  • Manage union relations to create a conducive working environment in the organization
  • Initiate program to prevent labour dispute and grievances between union and management
  • Up-to-date on labour laws, arbitration decisions and any matters that affect union-management relations
  • Review existing policies, procedures, guidelines and proposed changes for improvement of the overall Industrial Relations policies and procedures
  • Manage Performance Enhancement Plan (PEP) and perform periodic review on PEP cases

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • At least 7 years related working experience preferably in large organization
  • Experience in a unionized organization would be an added advantage
  • Well versed in Malaysian Employment Law such as Industrial Relations Act, Employment Act etc
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Good command of language (both written and oral) in English and Bahasa Melayu
